Birra-li is a visual arts educator with twenty years of experience and has worked in both primary and secondary schools in Victoria and internationally. She is currently the Learning Area Leader of the Arts at Frankston High School and teaches VCE Creative Practice.
Birra-li was selected for the Teacher Fellowship Program through Independent Schools Victoria in 2021.
Birra-li has been the recipient of two scholarships to study at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and was also chosen to be an Art21 educator in 2019 to study at the Teachers College in New York.
Birra-li uses her art practice to engage with advocacy groups and uplift voices from all members of our community and has been supported by the Australian Council for the Arts. She has worked closely with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority in advisory and administrative work for the new VCE studies and has assessed the VCE Studio Arts and Art exam.
Birra-li studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts (ceramics) at the Victorian College of the Arts.
