As a ceramic artist I have felt very fortunte to be residing and practicing my art in a beautiful part of the world, the Mornington Peninsula. My ceramic journey starting at my local high school in Mt.Eliza and continued to completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Ceramic Design at Caufiled Institute of Technology. Ever since I have had the pleasure of teaching the joys of creating clay to childfen and adults, and also exhibiting works in many shows, exhibitions, local galleries interstate and overseas, collecting the odd award along the way. Whilst I majored in the Raku firing processes, I also explored other clays and glazes in thev stoneware, midfire and earthenware temperature ranges. After building my first LP gas brick arch kiln, I would fire mostly to 1320 degrees celcious and under reduction. I now fire mostly to midfire.
I'm most passionate about creating one-off scupltural forms either wheelthrown, handbuilt or a combination of the two. I then enjoy bringing these forms to life by applying various combinations of glazes to their surface and playing with glaze recipes to achieve rick textured earthy tones.
Clay has always been my core medium of choice when travelling my creative journey. I feel I'm constantly drawn into the many pathways it offers. Clay simply makes my heart sing and is especially a joy when others connect with a piece and gives them a smile too |
